Can't recommend Ben enough and Push Pull Health after an injury I built my strength back with his help and support. Cicely Frost3 September 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Like many people in their 60s, I started to notice some changes: my knees felt stiffer, my back ached more, and I didn’t feel quite as strong or steady as I used to. I’m a keen sea swimmer, which has helped me stay fit, but it hasn’t done much for the pain or helped me rebuild strength where I need it. I’d followed Ben’s posts for a while, but with a hectic work schedule, the timing never felt right. Regular gyms always felt a bit too much. Busy, intimidating, and geared towards younger people and bodybuilders. It was one of Ben’s posts about building strength and mobility to help prevent falls that finally pushed me to get in touch, and I’m so glad I did! The small group personal training at Push Pull Health in Herne Bay has been a breath of fresh air. 1-1 personal training never appealed to me, and I’d never done strength training before - so training in a small group with people my own age, dealing with similar injuries and hesitations, was ideal. The sessions are still tailored to your needs, just without the pressure of being the only one in the room. I’m now doing things I haven’t done in years - or ever! Jumping, hopping, and stepping onto high boxes while holding weights. It’s made a real difference to how I feel on a day-to-day basis. If you’re over 60 and feel like you’ve lost a bit of strength or confidence in your body, this is 100% worth trying. The private studio, the supportive coaching, and the cost-effective small group setup make it a genuinely welcoming space—without the chaos of a commercial gym. You’ll build strength, improve balance, and move better—while training in a way that actually supports your long-term health. You might never love going to the gym or lifting weights, but you’ll love feeling stronger, more capable, and ready for whatever ageing throws at you.

Howdy Kate, Thanks a bunch for taking the time to leave a review. You nailed why Push Pull Health exists! Most people in their 60s aren’t told the truth: strength fades slowly until everyday stuff gets harder—stairs, balance, even getting up off the floor. That’s why what you did matters. You didn’t wait for a fall or another injury; you got ahead of it. You didn’t need one-to-one coaching. You needed structure, support, and a setup that made strength training doable without the pressure of a commercial gym. That’s what Small group personal training provides: training alongside people your age, working around similar injuries, building confidence, and getting stronger. The results? Now you’re doing things most people assume are off-limits after 60, jumping, stepping onto high boxes, and lifting heavy weights off the floor! You might never love the gym or lifting weights. But you’ll love what getting stronger lets you keep doing. Keeping fit for purpose and enjoying life pain-free. Thanks again, Kate. You’re just getting started! Rosey Cortazzi17 July 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am always a bit nervous about new people and I had never really done well with male personal trainers in the past, but Ben is amazing. So calm and easy going but really knows his stuff. I had been suffering from a tendon injury when I started going to Ben. It has significantly improved and my legs have have got stronger . I have also improved my upper body strength and core strength. I can highly recommend Ben, I always feel better after my training sessions. His sessions have a relaxed atmosphere we always listen to music and talk about life and the universe and the time flies by. If you are considering starting I would honestly say just do it, you will feel so much better. To give you some context I am a 61 year old woman so you don't have to some kind of gym bunny to benefit from Ben's expertise.

Hi Rosey, I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Starting something new is never easy, especially when past experiences with male personal trainers haven't been a good fit. So hearing that you've felt comfortable, stronger, and supported in our sessions means a lot. It's been brilliant watching your progress, seeing your tendon injury improve and your strength build across your legs, core, and upper body. That's what consistent strength training in the right environment can do. We keep things simple and relaxed here at Push Pull Health—small group and 1-1 personal training in a private studio with structure, support, and a space where you're not judged for taking your time or doing things your way. You don’t need to be a gym bunny. You just need a setup that meets you where you are—and a coach who listens. For anyone in Herne Bay, Whitstable, or Canterbury who's nervous about starting, especially if you've had a few false starts or bad experiences, Rosey's proof that strength training for women over 60 doesn't have to feel intimidating. Thank you for putting up with my questionable music choices! Ben Keith Battson15 July 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve always enjoyed being active, especially running. However, over time, knee and lower back pain began to develop. I cut back on the running and began working with a physio, which helped in the short term. Still, I needed something more consistent to build strength and avoid further setbacks. I'd been to gyms before, but never stuck with them. I lacked confidence, and without a clear plan, it always felt like guesswork, like nothing I was doing was actually helping. Since joining Push Pull Health, I’ve been following a structured strength programme designed around my needs, with exercises that complement my physio and support long-term recovery. It’s already helped ease the discomfort in my knees and back, while building strength that carries over into daily life. Training alongside my wife, Kathryn, has been a real bonus. Even though we’ve very different goals, the small-group personal training setup means every session remains tailored to each of us. You still get proper coaching and personal attention in a relaxed, supportive environment—not a loud or overwhelming gym. Ben also helped us design a simple, yet effective, home routine using minimal equipment, making it easy to maintain momentum outside the private studio. If you’re working around injuries, want to continue doing what you enjoy—like running or need a routine tailored to your body and lifestyle, I highly recommend Ben and Push Pull Health’s small group training in Herne Bay. It’s the first time I’ve felt like I’m training with purpose, and it has become a routine that I can actually stick with for the long term.

Hi Keith, Thanks for this! I'm glad the setup's working well for you and Kathryn. It's been great to see how strength training in our small group personal training sessions has supported your physio and helped ease the knee and back issues. You've shown exactly what happens when you train consistently, with a programme built around your body, not someone else's idea of what fitness should look like. Getting your home setup sorted has been a big bonus too—training outside the studio with minimal kit. It's also an excellent long-term option for anyone wanting to stay consistent between sessions (and who doesn't fancy braving a busy gym anytime soon!). For anyone in Herne Bay, Whitstable, or Canterbury who thinks personal training is only for athletes or gym addicts, Keith's progress shows that with the proper structure, support, and a clear goal, it's absolutely possible to train for the long haul. See you in the gym! Ben 💪 Ann Hudson9 June 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. After being relatively active in my younger years and now over 70 and experiencing health issues I needed to find the right exercise for me after joining many gyms and exercise classes that just didn't work for me I came across Ben his approach to safe and individually tailored exercise is amazing and fun too don't hesitate to give it a try you will be surprised what you can achieve.

Thanks so much, Ann—this means a lot. After trying gyms and classes that didn’t quite fit, you could’ve easily thrown in the towel. But instead, you gave it one more go—and the results speak for themselves. Training in your 70s, dealing with ongoing health issues, and still showing up consistently? That’s no small thing. You’ve proved that safe, tailored exercise isn’t just possible with the right coaching—it’s empowering. You didn’t need another overcrowded class or a clueless PT throwing generic workouts at you. You needed a small group personal training programme that made sense for your body, goals, and life, and that’s exactly what you found at Push Pull Health. It’s been a privilege coaching you alongside your friend Susie. You’ve both brought energy, humour, and a willingness to learn every step of the way. And more importantly, you’ve shown that progress doesn’t stop just because the decades roll on. If you’re over 70 and living in Herne Bay, Whitstable, or Canterbury and think you’re “too far gone” for this exercise stuff, Ann’s proof you’re not. You don’t need to be fit or fearless to start. You need a personal trainer who meets you where you’re at—and a setup that fits your life. Don’t let pain or injury convince you it’s too late. See you in the next session, Ann—still getting stronger and surprising yourself! Ben Jayne B4 June 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been training with Ben at Push Pull Health for a couple of months, and I am very happy with the progress I’ve made. My posture has noticeably improved, I feel stronger, have more stamina, and I have much more confidence in what my body can do. Ben is incredibly encouraging and knowledgeable, always pushing just the right amount while making sure exercises are done safely and effectively. The bespoke Push Pull Health app provided is also really helpful—it includes demo videos and great advice, which makes it easier to stay consistent even outside of sessions. The small group sessions have been the real highlight. There's a great sense of camaraderie, and the other members are genuinely supportive. It's a welcoming and motivating environment that makes you want to show up and do your best. I’m really glad I found this Push Pull Health and gave the trial a go. It’s been a game-changer for both my fitness and mindset. Highly recommend!

Thanks so much, Jayne—this genuinely means a lot. You came in unsure and hesitant, wondering if your best years were behind you. Now? You’re standing taller, moving better, and landing box jumps most people half your age would struggle with. At the start, you couldn’t step onto a small step. Now, you're springing onto a 14-inch box you used to avoid eye contact with. That’s not luck. That’s what happens when you show up, stay coachable, and train somewhere that knows what it’s doing—with a small group personal training programme that actually works. Personal training in small groups gives you the structure, support, and accountability most people have never had. You get the attention of a personal trainer with the added boost of a tight-knit, inclusive community that wants to see you do well—without the chaos or cringe of a commercial gym. Shoutout to you for using the Push Pull Health app outside of sessions, too—demo videos, habit tracking, and just enough of a nudge to stay consistent even when life’s trying to derail you. If you’re looking for a personal trainer in Herne Bay, Whitstable, or Canterbury, you don’t need to be barked at or flogged with burpees and star jumps to make progress. Jayne’s proof that strength training delivers real results—even if you’ve spent years feeling stuck. Push Pull Health offers small group personal training in Herne Bay for people who want expert coaching, real progress, and a fitness programme they can actually stick to—especially if you're giving the whole fitness thing one last go. And if you think personal training is only for people who already know what they’re doing, Jayne is your reminder that it’s actually for people who are done waiting to feel ready. See you in the next one, Jayne. That box is looking smaller every week. Ben Kathryn Battson15 May 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've tried my fair share of cardio classes over the years—some I enjoyed, some I didn't—but I never stuck with them long-term. As I've gotten older, I realised I needed something more sustainable to help me stay strong and mobile. When I came to Push Pull Health in Herne Bay, I had a recurring hip issue, and strength training was completely new to me. I lacked confidence and didn't know where to start. Ben helped me work around my limitations and focus on mobility, core stability, and building strength gradually—without anything feeling overwhelming. I've also been training alongside my husband, Keith, who has completely different goals from me. What's been brilliant is how Ben tailors the sessions to both of us so we each feel supported and challenged in the right way. We've also been working on a plan to transition into home training, using simple equipment and building confidence to eventually train independently. It's the kind of support and attention we've never had from any other trainer or gym—it genuinely feels like Ben is going the extra mile to ensure this works for us in the long term. Now that I'm more comfortable with the exercise side, we've started looking at diet and lifestyle changes in a realistic way that feels manageable in the long term. If you're unsure where to start with strength training, have had injuries, or have lost confidence, I'd highly recommend Ben and Push Pull Health. It’s already made a big difference, and it feels great knowing we’re building something sustainable for the long term.

Hi Kathryn, It’s been brilliant seeing your progress—not just physically but also in how confident and capable you’ve become with strength training. You’ve gone from cardio being your default to handling strength work with control, intent, and minimal complaints (I’ll take that as a win). It has been a highlight to watch you and Keith train together, with completely different goals but both making progress. It’s proof that training alongside someone can push you further, especially when the sessions are still personal to each of you. I’m especially pleased that building toward training at home has given you the confidence to eventually go it alone—something most gyms and trainers never really prepare you for. But that’s the point: it’s got to work for your life. Thanks again for the kind words—on we go! 💪 Ben Lynda Wilson8 April 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I first reached out to Ben at Push Pull Health after he shared a post about his love for Bounty! That small moment made me think, "Maybe this is someone who actually gets it." Someone who doesn't preach perfection but who understands that health and fitness don't have to mean giving up everything you enjoy. Like so many others, I've spent years stuck in a cycle of yo-yo dieting—a few wins here and there, but nothing that ever felt sustainable. I even tried a diet BootCamp, which had some short-term success, but the results didn't last. Since working with Ben, things have started to click. We've focused on portion control, adding more variety to my meals, and improving my relationship with food. I've finally stopped judging food as 'good' or 'bad' and found a sustainable, fun, and realistic routine. At this stage in life, I don't want quick fixes—I want something that fits me and lasts. On top of that, I've been dealing with chronic low back inflammation, which always made me hesitant about training. But Ben adapted everything to suit what I could manage. Over time, I've grown more confident, stronger, and less anxious about movement. What I've appreciated most is that this isn't just another short-term fix. I'm actually building long-term, sustainable habits, getting stronger, and learning how to manage my food choices in a way that doesn't feel like a punishment. Push Pull Health in Herne Bay has been a breath of fresh air compared to the big commercial gyms I've tried before—no pressure, no judgment, just support. If you're someone who's bounced between diets, struggled with chronic pain, or thought exercise wasn't for you—Push Pull Health is the place to start. It's not about perfection but about sustainable progress that sticks. And for what it's worth, even Bounty lovers are welcome here!

Howdy Lynda, Thanks so much for your review! It's been great helping you move away from the yo-yo dieting cycle and finally build something sustainable—without cutting out everything you enjoy (Bountys included, obviously). Watching your confidence grow—both in the gym and regarding your food choices—has been a real highlight. You've taken on strength training, worked around your back pain, and made solid progress with your nutrition while keeping it realistic and consistent. So many people fall into the trap of commercial gyms and diet plans that don't work. I'm really glad Push Pull Health in Herne Bay has been the right fit and that we've found a routine that actually works for your life. Looking forward to what's next! All the best, Ben Rod Eley18 February 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Posted on behalf of Glynis Eley: I first joined Push Pull Health after persuading my husband Rod , who has Parkinson’s, to see what Ben could offer him. After a few weeks it was clear that the answer was, “A lot!! “. Watching his progress made me realise that I also wanted to work on my strength and overall health—I wasn't ready to accept that feeling weaker was just part of getting older. Rod and I have always been keen walkers, although less so recently, and generally eat well. I had noticed a decline in my strength and mobility. Like Rod, I wanted to focus on exercises to improve my daily life. One of my biggest challenges has been arthritis in my knees. Some days, something as simple as climbing the stairs felt like an effort, and I knew I needed to start working on my strength to stop it from worsening. Since training with Ben, I've noticed a huge difference—especially in my knees. I've gone from struggling with certain movements to being able to step up onto high boxes while carrying weight and even lift weights from the floor—something that felt almost impossible when I first started. The focus isn't just on lifting weights, although I enjoy that ( something I never thought I would say! )—it's mainly the outcome of those activities and I am moving better and feeling stronger. It's about improving my health span so I can keep doing the things I love for years to come without feeling restricted by pain or stiffness. So, if like me you are older and greyer than the people you usually expect to see in a gym, Ben will give you the confidence to do things you may never have tried before! If you're feeling weaker or unsteady and want to keep moving with confidence, Push Pull Health is the place for you.

Howdy Glynis, You didn't just persuade Rod to try Push Pull Health—you proved to yourself how much strength, confidence, and independence you could build through training, too! Not only have you made incredible progress yourself, but you were also the driving force behind getting Rod started—and now you're both proving what's possible with the right training. It's been fantastic seeing your progress, especially with building strength in your knees, improving mobility, and tackling exercises that once felt impossible—stepping up onto high boxes while carrying weight and lifting from the floor. That's serious progress—and I love that you've even started enjoying lifting weights (which wasn't exactly on the cards at the start!). More importantly, it's great to hear that training isn't just about what happens in the gym—it's about improving your health and staying active for years to come. For anyone else thinking, "I'm older and greyer—gyms aren't for me," Glynis proves that it's never too late to build strength, move better, and feel more confident. The hardest part is starting—after that, you'll be surprised at what you can do. If you're in Herne Bay or the surrounding areas and think strength training isn't for you—think again. Glynis did, and now she's proving herself wrong every session! You're both a pleasure to train and be around, and I can't thank you enough for taking the leap and trusting me with your health! Ben Glynis Eley17 February 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Written on behalf of Rod Eley: I was diagnosed with Parkinson's over 12 years ago and, like many others at the time, was told there wasn't much I could do other than manage my symptoms as best I could, and swallow increasingly large amounts of medication. Since then support has improved and therapy has helped, but the six week blocks, and working with other Parkinson’s patients hasn’t inspired me and did not allow me to establish a long term routine. My wife, Glynis, was drawn to Ben’s promotion of Push Pull Health on Facebook and his less than serious and slightly irreverent approach beneath which is total commitment to his clients. This was a good start as she knew that I would be put off by too much pressure. She discovered that he was well qualified and arranged for a chat at his studio. Initially unconvinced despite Glynis’ enthusiasm, after our conversation with Ben I was more than happy to give it a try despite being 71 and having not set foot in a gym since schooldays ! I wasn't sure how much training could really help me but didn’t want my new normal to be the weakness, instability and stiffness I was feeling from Parkinson’s, lack of exercise and natural aging. Ben was open to finding out more about Parkinson’s and how it affected me. He worked out a programme that suited my needs and was flexible enough when my unpredictable Parkinson’s symptoms got in the way of exercising. Instead of focusing on what Parkinson's might stop me from doing, Ben has helped me focus on what I can do—and how to keep improving. This approach, and a twice weekly programme, has suited me so much better than the six week block sessions I had undertaken before with no follow-up or extension. The training isn't just about lifting the heaviest weights possible—it's about making everyday movements easier. Since working with Ben, I've noticed big improvements in my strength, mobility, posture, balance and confidence. Although I still have good and and bad times ( Parkinson’s isn’t linear), I notice differences in my daily life and other people have noticed too! I've gone from feeling uncertain about exercise to seeing real improvements that have made a difference beyond the gym. Everything we work on feels like it has a purpose. The training is personalised, supportive, and focused on what matters—helping me stay strong and independent for as long as possible. For anyone who's been told, "There's not much you can do," I highly recommend Ben and Push Pull Health.

Howdy Rod, Thank you for sharing your experience! I couldn't be happier to see your progress—not just in strength and mobility but also in confidence and mindset. It's frustrating how many people with Parkinson's are told there's not much they can do when, in reality, strength training, movement, and the right approach can make a huge difference. You've proved that firsthand! I'm glad the training feels purposeful and practical and that we've found a routine that works long-term—not just another six-week block with no follow-up. Every session is about building confidence, improving balance, posture, and mobility, and ensuring that you stay as strong and independent as possible for as long as possible. It's been great to work with you (even if I had to win you over first!), and I appreciate Glynis for doing the groundwork! I look forward to many more sessions together and continuing your progress. For anyone else reading this who's been told there's not much they can do—there absolutely is. Thanks again, Rod, for taking the leap and joining Push Pull Health!
